Who am I?

(Tortosa, Catalonia, 1982). Since I graduated from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), I’ve explored many sides of journalism. I’ve worked in the press, on the radio, and also on television — a bit of everything — as if to prove right the “jack of all trades” label someone gave me quite a few years ago.

I love the country where I live, as well as its history and its cuisine, which is why in recent years I’ve been an editor for the magazines Descobrir Catalunya, Sàpiens, and Cuina, magazines with which I still collaborate regularly. I write for the newspaper ARA and I’m co-owner of Bluverd Comunicació, a company specializing in communication for businesses in the wine, gastronomy, and tourism sectors. In 2009, I completed the Master’s in Creative Documentary (UAB), and that’s also an area where I dedicate part of my time. Documentary filmmaking is an ambiguous format — halfway between journalism and cinema — that allows me to channel the need to tell stories that are too often left aside by the news agenda, constrained by the here and now.

Before becoming a journalist, I worked as a kitchen porter in a restaurant in Bray (Ireland) and was a chef — hat included — in a hotel in Braemar (Scotland). I consolidated my English in the Leith district of Edinburgh, and I learned French in Le Puy-en-Velay, in the French Massif Central. From August 2013 to December 2014, I lived in Edinburgh to write about the political process leading to the Scottish independence referendum held on September 18, 2014. I’m a traveler by nature, and I feel privileged to work in a profession that has allowed me to discover the Sahara, Senegal, Bosnia, and Syria, among other corners of the planet.
